Who recommended the systematic use of corticosteroids in the treatment of patients with a serious and critical form of coronavirus. At the same time, the organization noted that this therapy is not suitable for patients who carry the disease in a mild form.

The study has been conducted in British hospitals since March this year. It is attended by 11,5 thousand patients. With its help, scientists will determine how effective various methods of treating the new coronavirus are. In addition to the corticosteroid dexamethasone, patients are also given the antibiotic azithromycin, the immunosuppressant tocilizumab and the antimalarial drug hydroxychloroquine.
