The restrictions imposed on Chinese diplomats in the United States are an unjustified and unfair step. This is how the Chinese authorities responded to the American side on the measures imposed, according to the website of the Chinese Embassy in the United States.

“The US has imposed another unfair ban and obstacle for Chinese diplomatic and consular staff. ( … ) China strongly opposes this. This also contradicts the values of openness and freedom declared by the US, ” the diplomatic mission said in a statement.

Representatives of China emphasize that the American side violates the Vienna Convention on diplomatic relations and the Vienna Convention on consular relations, and demand that the United States ” correct this error and withdraw the decision.”

The statement notes that the PRC always supports foreign diplomats on its territory in their efforts to fulfill their work tasks. However, the restrictive measures in question are introduced by the American side as a symmetrical response: as us Secretary of state Mike Pompeo said earlier, the Chinese authorities prevented us diplomats from visiting College campuses.
